Abstract
This study attempts to identify students’ problems in using English Personal Pronouns for 7th graders from junior high school. This study was descriptive qualitative. The participants of this study were students 7th graders at SMP Darul ‘Ulum 1 Unggulan Jombang, but the usable data were only 5 which have most of errors made by students. The students were given a written test that focused on personal pronoun use. The test consisted of 29 questions such as subject, object, and possessive pronoun while translating from Indonesian to English. The data collected then was analyzed by findings the errors made by students then described why the problems occur. The result of this study was the students still faced problems in using the form of personal pronouns. students often make mistakes such as answering with mixed forms as used in the subject, students instead used object and possessive pronouns. some focus on subject pronouns found many errors, except for the subject "i" and "you". Meanwhile, in object pronouns, all errors were found, except for "you", and in possessive pronouns, all errors were found. Students often make errors because of several different forms of pronouns in object and possessive pronouns which are less mastered because of their use which is not as frequent as subject pronouns. The results of this study are expected to be used by teachers as a reference to give students more attention and motivation. It is also recommended to provide a variety of methods or treatments so that students' grammar mastery improves. Keywords : Problems, Personal Pronoun, 7th Graders, Error Analysis
