Abstract

The aim of this study was to know the errors in writing text recount text of the first grade MAN Denanyar Academic Year 2016/2017. This study focuses on the error that students make in the generic structure of recount text. The method used in this research is descriptive where the researchers explain the results of the research by way of describing the existing data. Techniques used for data collection are measurement techniques and direct observation techniques. The data collection tool is a written test. Based on the results of this study, found that the errors made by most of the students were in the orientation and reorientation section. This can be seen from 36 texts remain only 31 texts consist of Orientation, 36 texts consist of one series of event, 19 texts consist of two series of events, 10 texts consist of three series of events, and 27 texts consist of reorientation. And just six texts from 36 texts were completely mastering generic structure of recount text; Recount Texts number 18, 19, 21, 32, 33, and 35. It can be concluded that re-orientation was the most commonly committed error which was found in their works. Keywords: recount text, error, and writing.
