Abstract

In studying English, students should master four language skills, they are listening, speaking, reading and writing. Besides, they also should learned language components such as grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation. The aims of this research were to analyze the teacher action in implementing snake and ladder game. Qualitative research design was the method of this research. The instrument used of this research were observation guide and interview. The participants of this research were the English teacher of 8th grade at SMP Al-Hikmah Balongrejo Sumobito. The data of this research was the teacher action in implementing snake and ladder game and students speaking. The findings showed that the teacher’s action of using snake and ladder game based on observation guide, those are teacher’s role during teaching speaking, the role of snake and ladder, and students speaking. It can be concluded that it was the improvement of the use of snake and ladder game can improve the students speaking especially in simple past tense.
