Abstract

This is a study of adjectives translation techniques on Tourism Text of Hong Kong Disneyland Park. This study analyzed translation techniques of adjectives attributive and adjective predicative. The aims of this study are; (1) To identify the translation techniques used to translate adjectives in Tourism Text Hong Kong Disneyland Park. (2) To explain how is the translation accuracy of Hong Kong Disneyland Park based on the translation techniques applied. This research employed qualitative method. The data of this study were the adjectives taken from Tourism Text Hong Kong Disneyland Park. There were 96 data found by researcher. The result of this research showed two points. First, ten kind of translation techniques applied. They were established equivalence 69 (71%), naturalized borrowing 7 (8.22) %, pure borrowing 3 (3.12%), generalization 3 (3.12 %), reduction 3 (3.12%), linguistic compression 1 (1.03%), discursive creation 5 (5.21%), amplification 1 (1.03%), transposition 2 (2.08%), addition 2 (2.08). Second, from 96 data that have been analyzed the accuracy of translation techniques in Tourism Text Hong Kong Disneyland Park is totally accurate with the total is 84. There are 10 data are less accurate, and 2 data inaccurate. Thus, it can be concluded that established equivalence is the most dominant technique used than the other techniques, because this contributed to the accuracy of translation result. It can be seen in the findings that 64 adjectives in Hong Kong Disneyland Park leaflet was translated accurately by applying this technique. While 5 data translated less accurate by using established equivalence. In addition, naturalized borrowing got the second position that lead to accurate result. There are 7 data shown naturalized borrowing that was accurate. There are 2 data shown reduction that was inaccurate. Keywords: translation, translation technique, accuracy, adjective
