Abstract
This research focuses on the social classes that occur in the movie the young karl marx (2017) the objectives of this study are 1. What kinds of social classes are described in The Young Karl Marx movie? 2. To what extent does the description of social class represent the reality? This research is a descriptive qualitative with using Marxism approach. It is applied to identify and explain the reasons realists understand the data. Data in the form of sentences, utterances, or dialogs collected show marxism and social class that occur in the film The Young Karl Marx (2017). This research applies the theory of marxism proposed by Karl Marx and friedric engels (1848). The results of this study show that: 1) There are 2 social classes that occur in the movie The Young Karl Marx movie, namely upper class and lower class. the upper class is reflected as the bourgeoisie or owners and the lower class is reflected as the proletariat or workers and laborers. 2) The bourgeoisie in this movie is a representation of the ruling social class that dominated the economy and politics in the 19th century. They had access to capital, land and other resources, giving them control over the production and distribution of goods and services. Unlike the proletariat, the proletariat at that time consisted of factory workers, farm laborers and other urban laborers. They worked in poor conditions, with low wages, long hours, and no guarantee of safety or welfare. Resistance and protests were often violently suppressed by bourgeois authorities.
