Abstract

The background of the study in this research is based on the phenomena that students have difficulties in writing; students could not develop and describe idea on their minds. So, they need some ways, methods which could help them in writing. The students might feel difficult with the writing especially in writing descriptive text. This happens because the students have lack of vocabulary and the students cannotdevelop idea in their minds. So, the researcher uses quantum teaching method to improve the students’ ability in writing. Because taught by using quantum teaching method the students can describe the objects in around them. Quantum teaching method is one of ways that can be used in teaching writing especially in writing descriptive text. By using quantum teaching method, the students are able to write the compositions of the object easily and enjoyable to learn writing. The students not limited to describe the objects in their minds because quantum teaching method includes any connection and interaction. So, the students can describe the objects in around them. The students not only describe the objects in class but, the students can describe in the out of class. In this case, the researcher will quantum teaching method to improve the students’ ability in writing especially in writing descriptive text. In this research, the researcher took a test of their improvement in each cycle. The First cycle found the mean of the score of the students’ writing was 76.35 with the total score 1909. In the second cycle found the mean of the score of the students’ writing was 91.64 with the total score 2291. The result of the research shows that the students improve their ability in writing especially in writing descriptive text using quantum teaching method. Finally, the advantages of using quantum teaching method are that the students could arrange the words and develop their paragraph in describing objects easily and accurately
