Abstract

This research entitled Translation strategy of swear word in “It chapter 1” movie by Stephen King 2017. This research explore the types of swear word found in “It chapter 1” movie, the translation stratgey used in translating swear word in “It chapter 1” movie dan the last how the accuracy of swear word translation contain in “It chpater 1” movie. In analyzing the data, the researcher uses Henrik Gottlieb (1992:161) for translation strategy, Battistella (2000:72) theory to analyze the types of swear word and Nababan, M.R (2012) in analyze the accuracy of translation. This research used descriptive qualitative method in analyzing the data. The data of this research are all utterances containing swear word in “It chapter1” movie.The result of this research found 105 data of swear word, the result shows that there 61 obscenity, 29 epithet, 9 profanity, and vulgarity was rarely found which proven by 6 data. The dominant translation strategy used is transfer and there are some translation strategy which is rarely used, there are expension, imitation and deletion.From overall the data, there 103data accuracy, 1 lessaccurcy and 1inaccuracy.
