Abstract

In 2019 Disney released the Aladdin film remake. The movies was won a large audience in the first week release and also become fifth best-selling movie in 2019. This movie was based on the Arabian night story. Aladdin and Princess Jasmine story discomfit John Wick: chapter 3- Problem and stop the profit of Avengers: Endgame spectator. This film represented Arabian vibes with its culture as the case with the previous Aladdin film animation version. But specifically, Aladdin 2019 presented the feminist element of Princess Jasmine character. Princess Jasmine realizes that there are unequal opportunities for women to get what they want. As significant roles in this movie, Princess Jasmine is portrayed as Liberal feminists. As a Princess she wants to lead her kingdom and disobeyed to rules kingdom. But, the sultan and the royal advisor opposed her and consider that as women she could not lead the kingdom. As the only child of the sultan and also because she is a princess, she want to be the next sultan in Agrabah. Feminism is a pattern of angriness by women to male who want to gain same right with male. Besides, feminism is women’s movement to struggle for gender equality between male and female. This movement produces by conscious of women that they have right for their own life without discrimination of male because of their sexuality. Nowadays, women is still seems like a threat for male if they have lot productivity as male or even have more. Partly, feminist reputed as hater of male or male’s enemies. Depend on Hooks (2000), Feminism is a movement to end sexism, sexist exploitation and oppression. So, still become a negative stigma, if women work at male majority job. As Jaggar said in Angelique (2003) feminism refers to efforts to end women’s subordination. This research apply liberal feminism theory by Rosemarie Putnam Tong. In Tong (2009) Liberal Feminism is the equality chance or liberty for each individual to shows autonomy of their own self to make justice and caring society where freedom will improve (2009:11-13) There are a lot of previous researchers using Aladdin movie as an research object and also apply various theories. In Mundi Rahayu’s (2016) )research entitled Identity politics in Aladdin from Arabian Night to Disney Animated Film, by applying a critical discourse analysis and ecraniation. She compered the identity politics that reconstruct both of two work, from folktale and animation movie. The finding of this research was reconstruction there are changes of identity in the movie and in adapted folktale. Another research of the same object is, Aladdin Character In Disney’s Aladdin Movies As A Reconstruction Toward Traditional Men Roles Arabic Society. This research written by Fransisco Tri Sandra Nope (2016) this research analyzed on masculinity by used Gender theory and applying sociological approach to know how Disney reconstruct traditional male characters which is reflected by Sultan and Jafar with modern male that is reflected by Aladdin.
