Abstract

Considering the students’ involvement is one of the factors which is needed during the learning process. The successful learning process can be achieved if the students actively build interaction with others. The learning process does not only happened on the classroom, but also outside the classroom. Promoting the learning process by using social media like Facebook can be an alternative way to engage the students’ interaction. This study was done qualitatively involving the 11th grade of senior high school students. To gain the data, the researcher used observation. The finding of the study showed that during online learning process using Facebook, there were two pattern of interaction which appeared, they were two-way and multi-way traffic communication. But the students more actively engaged in two-way traffic communication. Besides, the result of the finding also represented that the students’ interaction still on the phase I, sharing/comparing of information. It means that he students’ had lower level of interactive engagement as reflected on the students’ involvement during online learning using Facebook.
