Abstract
Writing is a productive skill, it is considered complicated for students. To produce a piece of writing needs the ability to express the ideas in a clear way.Togain this skill, students need feedback to improve their writing quality. However, they often ignored teachers’ corrections and comments. It’s proved by the mistakes they made in the next writing assignment. Besides, the student weren’t active in the teaching and learning process. Thus, the teachers underestimate the writing assessment and find some difficulties in assessing students’ writing. They assume that it’s time consuming to check students’ work. In fact, they gave limited writing practice to the students, obviously, it has effect to students’ writing skill. Thus, the researcher decided to apply the peer feedback technique to improve the students’ writing ability especially in the form of procedure text in the eighth graders particularly in class VIII B that consists of 36 students. The researcher conducted Classroom Action Research collaboratively with one of the teachers there. This research conducted in two cycle. Each cycle covered three meetings. The result showed that the implementation of peer feedback technique in teaching writing could improve the students’ writing ability in procedure text and promote them to engage in the teaching and learning process as long as the students correct their peers’ work and give suggestion on it, admit their mistakes with pleasure, and revise their work after getting feedback from their friends as revising influenced their poor writing scores. Thus, the teacher should model the way how to offer feedback and build their confidence to write and give feedback to their peers’ work. Encourage them to revise their work after given feedback as it affected their writing score.
