Writing usually regarded as the difficult skill to learn, because the learners need to master other skills of English such as reading, speaking, and listening. Therefore learning writing is complex activity for students because the learner needs to understand grammatical, syntax, and vocabulary of the target language. This study analyzed on students‟ difficulty in constructing descriptive text. The analysis was focused on the difficulty in constructing descriptive text by following its generic structure and language feature. The aims of this study were to Identify and describe the difficulties the students encountered in composing the generic structure and language feature of descriptive texts. Qualitative research was the method of this research. The subjects of this study were 27 of seventh year students of SMP Miftahul Khoir Trowulan. The finding showed that the result of this research was all of students didn‟t have difficulty in constructing identification of descriptive texts; all of them gave the general information about the famous person. But there were two students had difficulty in constructing description of descriptive texts, and there were eight student had difficulty in constructing simple present tense (subject-verb agreement).
