Abstract

This research was conducted to improve students’ speaking Ability by using cooperative script the eight grade students of MTs Al- Hikmah Jombang. Based on preliminary our research they could not produce using word when they we asked. Some of them seemed confused and tensed because they did not understand what the teacher asked so they did not know how to answer the questions.Then cooperative script strategy to apply for them. The design of this research is Classroom Action Research (CAR) which aims to improve the quality of the learning process and aim to solve the problem at the eight grade. the researcher used observation checklist and speaking test as the instruments of this research.The finding of this research indicated the imlementation of coopeartive script strategy was successful since the criterion of success were achieved. the criteria of success is the students reach the minimum of passing grade as big as 75%. The finding showed that the students had already acheived the target score, there were 78% or 18 students who acheived the criteria of succsess. The result of observation showed that the students’ parcticipation and responses was increased.it can be seen from percentage of students involvement in teaching learning process, there was 68% of students involved in the first meeting and 88% of students involved in the second meeting. Based on the finding mentioned above, it can be recomended that applaying cooperative script stategy can improve speaking students’ ability and also increase the students’ involvement in teaching learning process.
